Rieu is looking forward to seeing his North American fans again. “The special thing about my North American fans is that they show their enthusiasm right from the first note, you don’t see that anywhere else. Together we create a great atmosphere and that’s why I keep coming back.”
A violinist, conductor and showman, Rieu has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Eleven of his albums have gone gold or platinum and, together with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, he tours on five continents. Every year, 700,000 fans attend an André Rieu concert, establishing him as one of the top twenty touring acts in the world. In April 2008, Rieu topped the Australian charts, surpassing the Australian Idol and Madonna for the #1 album. His recent Australian tour saw an audience of more than 260,000 over 11 concerts.
Crowned the “King of Waltz” by the media, Rieu believes that everyone can enjoy classical music. Following in the footsteps of Johann Strauss himself, he encourages his audiences to get out of their seats and waltz in the aisles.
