2022 was a year of euphoria and joy- finally, after the long break due to Covid 19, André Rieu and his beautiful Johann Strauss Orchestra were finally allowed to go on tour again! The tour kicked off in Spain, with nearly sold-out shows in Madrid and Barcelona. After that, he could finally return to the US to finish the tour that they started in 2020. The concerts were a huge success, the joy of being back on stage was catching and the audience was ecstatic. His world tour also brought him to his biggest ever UK Ireland Tour, as well as Germany, Austria, Poland, and Eastern Europe, followed by three fantastic concerts in Scandinavia, including Oslo for the first time.
The highlight of the year was undoubtedly André’s return to his hometown of Maastricht, where he was gave a record number of 15 concerts on the Vrijthof. The Maastricht concerts were a dream come true for André and his fans, and the memories will be cherished for a lifetime. In August André’s Maastricht concerts hit the cinemas worldwide with “Happy Days are Here Again”, breaking new records.
In September André flew to South America, where he played nine sold-out concerts in Argentina, Chile and for the first time in Uruguay. He then gave three unforgettable concerts in Tel Aviv, before continuing on with concerts in Lisbon, Vienna & Salzburg, and some more cities in Eastern Europe. André finished off the year with a series of sold-out Christmas concerts in his beloved hometown of Maastricht, bringing the year to a fitting end.
The tour was a true testament to the resilience and determination of both André and his fans, who never lost hope and continued to support him through these trying times. In November André released a beautiful new album called “Silver Bells”.
